Formed in 2007, Timbre Coup is Albany, NYs premiere progressive jamband. Some have called the sound improg. Few disagree, saying the sound converges into various realms, easily crossing over to electronica and trance. Many fans have already joined in on the bands insurrection of sound and are pleased with the musics progressional evolution.
Armed with a sizable catalog and considerable chops, the band has shared bills with the Disco Biscuits, LCD Soundsystem, RAQ, Pretty Lights, Pnuma Trio, Girl Talk and Method Man, opened for the New Deal, Project/Object (featuring Frank Zappa collaborators), U-Melt and Kung Fu, played afterparties for Phish and moe., entertained thousands at Camp Bisco, the Big Up Festival, Wormtown, and Strange Creek, and earned On the Rise status in Relix Magazine. Check Out This! is the bands stunning debut.
From the schizoid guitar riffage of Mother Natures Baby Daddy to the sci-fi dub of Stealth Mode, the pepperoni-killing muscle of Arnold Schwarzenegger to the brooding Hurt Potential, Check Out This! features something the rockers, the ravers, the geeks and the freaks can all agre e on. Its no surprise that Dont Fly a Key on a Kitestring When Its Lightninging serves as a sort of centerpiece. Chamberlaine and Ben Pickerings fleet guitar licks bookend Gerkens propulsive fuzz bass, opening into an all-out shredfest over the top of Matt Pickerings relentless pulse. At 5 and ½ minutes, its the living definition of a timbre coup and only teases at where the tune can go live. Which is the best way to catch these guys anyway.
Check Out This! Really, its for your own good.
