Great Elk is an indie-folk outfit founded by New York/Alaska based songwriter Paul Basile and guitarist Patrick Hay. Now a five-piece band featuring Bryan Trenis, Tommy Harron and Adam Christgau, they've spent the last several years developing a strong following in New York City and touring throughout the Northeast US. They released their debut, self-titled EP in June 2010 which garnered attention from Paste Magazine, Magnet Magazine, The Wall Street Journal and more. Great Elk quietly released another EP in May 2011 (entitled February, online only) and in June 2011 began work on their debut full length with engineer/producer D. James Goodwin (Norah Jones, The Bravery, Bobby). The new record, entitled Autogeography is due for a Spring 2012 release.
