Potter’s Field (n): def.: a public burial place for paupers, unknown persons, and criminals.
Hailing from Albany, New York, with three members of kin, Potter’s Field consists of Gabe Clevenger (vocals/guitar), Ed Piniazek (guitar/vocals), Nate Hart (guitar/bass), and Mike Piniazek (drums/percussion). They first came together in 2008 and after a short time started working out of their home studio [studio 99] on their own material in the hopes of finding their own unique voice. With the release of their upcoming demo, ‘No Need to Mourn’ Potter’s Field makes a bold statement about the musical scene coming out of Upstate New York.
As is evident in their eclectic rock sound on this release, the members of Potter’s Field host a wide array of musical tastes and backgrounds, from the classically trained to the self taught. On this demo, harder edged songs like ‘Negative Effects’ are offset by more melodically crafted pieces like ‘Train’; more jazz inspired tunes such as ‘Flow Out’ are poised against the more ethereal sounds of ‘Silence.’ These sounds create a mixture that ensures that there in something in Potter’s Field’s music for everyone to enjoy.
The Garden Variety
In the summer of 2009 Singer/Song Writer Steven Michael Fisher called up college friend Kevin White and asked him to come live with him and play the drums. The two of them weren't certain of the future, but Kevin quit his job back home and came to Albany with his drum set and a dream. Steve's good friend and manager Adam G Fish, brought in the funky bass player Steve "Big Sexy" Mink. And the three of them began to jam, write new songs and most importantly come together as great friends. Later, the "Duke" that is John Noonan joined the trio to become the final member of the four piece. Read more on their MySpace page.
